Internet and no-frills airlines top the agenda
This year’s Business Travel Show in Birmingham is set to tackle the new challenges faced by the industry such as the internet and no-frills airlines.
The conference programme includes a “Getting on with online” seminar at 14.15 on the first day, which deals with the rise of self-booking tools. Panellists include Niall Mackin, head of American Express One, and Floyd Widener, vice-president corporate EMEA, Sabre Travel Network.
The first seminar of the day at 10.30 deals with the prickly subject of no-frills carriers. Entitled “No-frills or no good – can travel buyers work with budget carriers?”, its panellists include Ian Nurdin, business travel manager, Nestlé UK and Stephen Hobday, head of sales, Flybe.
These sessions are conceived and moderated by The Corporate Travel Partnership and Graeme Payne, director of travel training consultancy, Talking Travel. They cost £25 in advance or £35 on the day.
The event is being held at the Birmingham NEC on October 13-14, after a six-year run in Manchester. It attracts travel buyers and agents who come to see exhibitors such as Accor Hotels, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, American Express, Airplus International and TQ3 Travel Solutions.
The event is organised by Centaur Exhibitions and supported by the Institute of Travel Managers and the Guild of Business Travel Agents.
