Intrepid united behind Manchester

Intrepid Travel staff were told over Friday drinks that co-founder and current director, Geoff Manchester has become the new managing director, effective immediately.

Incumbent CEO, Darrell Wade will continue with the company as an executive director focusing on new growth opportunities outside Intrepid Travel’s existing business.

Manchester previously held the position of managing director between 2000 and 2003 at the company he founded with Wade more than 21 years ago.

Intrepid said the move for the new structure is driven by the company’s recent growth.

Since 2000 it has expanded from an Asia specialist to now operate adventure trips on all seven continents, with revenue growth from A$28 million to A$130 million.

“Travellers are seeking more experienced-led holidays and we sit within that space. Making this change positions us to realise the potential in our current business, while also being free to fully explore new opportunities,” Manchester said.
