Ireland rewards travel writers
Tourism Ireland’s Orla Saul says that Tourism Ireland, one of Australia’s smallest yet proactive NTO’s is upping the ante in its annual Ireland Travel Writer’s Award.
Orla says that firstly, the award which recognises the best article published about Ireland annually will be divided into two awards and secondly, winners can also look forward to an added financial incentive in addition to a beautiful piece of Waterford Crystal.
Following feedback from the judges and writers last year, Tourism Ireland she says it was deemed appropriate to sub divide the award into a prize for the best newspaper article and a separate award for an article published in a magazine.
This is not the only change for 2007, with in addition to the beautiful piece of crystal kindly sponsored by Waterford Crystal, each winner will also receive $1000 as part of their prize.
Tourism Ireland is delighted to have the support of Waterford Crystal which symbolises the best in Irish craftsmanship, beauty and quality.
Tourism Ireland monitors all travel articles published about Ireland in newspapers and magazines throughout Australia and these articles will be automatically entered into the selection list however travel writers are asked to notify Orla Saul by Friday, 23rd February 2007 to alert her of an article to ensure it is has been included.
The articles will be judged on how Ireland is featured based on a number of key criteria: –
** Creativity: Style of writing, imagery;
** Innovation: fresh approach, inspirational;
** Information: facts accuracy and call to action;
** Circulation of the published article will be taken into account but will not be the defining factor.
Tourism Ireland will announce the winners at a reception at the Maritime Museum, Pyrmont, Sydney on Thursday, 15th March 2007.
