ISM, a Boston-based marketing and advertising firm that specializes in working with premier travel and lifestyle brands, has announced the appointment of Kevin Nicholas, as Director of Business Development. Mr. Nicholas was most recently managing director of London-based KN Consulting Group and has over 10 years of leadership experience in the travel and hospitality industry in the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. Nicholas started his career with Holiday Inn, where he was President of Marketing for all hotel properties in Massachusetts. He then moved to the United Kingdom, where he took a role as Director of Marketing for The Hilton Group, responsible for 23 hotels across southern England. From there, he led the development of brand and marketing strategies for The Eton Group and opened The Glasshouse, a new landmark hotel in Edinburgh. Since that time, he has run his own UK based marketing consulting firm working for such clients as the City of London and Hotelés Hesperia.

ISM is dedicated to growing premier travel and lifestyle brands and has been doing so for nearly 25 years. Its strategy of infusing outstanding creative and marketing acumen with a high level of strategic consultancy has drawn some of the biggest names in the industry to be their clients, including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, American Express, Emirates, Barbados, Best Western and Harley-Davidson.

“Having a team of executives who have worked extensively on the client-side of our business adds a highly valued component of strategic consultancy to ISM,” said Mr. Nicholas, “when you combine this with the agency’s existing talent from some of the country’s top communications and advertising agencies you get a really unique mixture that really differentiates us from other firms and is one of the reasons I decided to add my experience to the story.”

Gary Leopold, CEO and President of ISM, worked as the Director of Public Relations for Sonesta International Hotels Corporation prior to forming ISM, and has been an active voice in the industry for over 25 years. Chairman Bill Watson, who also serves as Managing Director of the firm’s Prism Partnership consulting unit, was previously COO and Executive Vice President of Best Western Hotels and a Sr. Vice President at ITT Sheraton. Executive Creative Director and Partner, Bob Minihan was formerly a Creative Director at Holland Mark and Arnold.
