The Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington was the place to be last week for the AWTE Summer Lunch, hosted by Innovation Norway and New Frontiers.

Guest Speaker Carol Marlow, President and Managing Director of Cunard Line, gave a lively insight into her career initially in hotel product, having worked for Forte Hotels and Thomson Holidays before moving into the cruise sector, working for Princess Cruises, Swan Hellenic and joining Cunard in 2005.

Carol was the first female executive director appointment in the UK cruise industry and has just stepped down after a long tenure as Chairman, Passenger Shipping Association. Kevin May, Editor of Travolution joined Carol for a topical question and answer session. The lunch closed with a raffle in aid of the AWTE Benevolent fund.

The AWTE has a long tradition of supporting and promoting senior women; for more information please visit www.awte.org.uk

Further AWTE events for the travel industry calendar are the Chairman’s Honorary lunch on the 21st October at The Chesterfield. This will be followed by the Christmas Lunch on the 1st December at Royal Garden Hotel.
