Visit Devon is seeking a new chairman following the resignation of Clive Jacobs from the position after a year.
Jacobs has stepped down following his acquisition of Travel Weekly parent TW Group to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
His Devon business interest continues through his ownership of the Michelin-starred New Angel Restaurant and Rooms in Dartmouth.
Jacobs said: “I was honoured to be appointed as chairman of Visit Devon a year ago.
“However, following my recent acquisition of the TW Group, I have taken the decision to stand down from this position to avoid any perceived conflict of interest.
“Devon is without doubt one of the most diverse counties in the UK with boundless tourism potential and it has been a pleasure to be involved with Visit Devon for the last year. I wish the team every success in the future.”
Visit Devon director Jamie Christon said: “On behalf of the Visit Devon Board, I wish to thank Clive for his enormous contribution.
“We have valued his experience and guidance and he has played an integral role in the development of the organisation.
“A search is now underway for a successor to Clive to guide the board forward into the next phase of the organisation.”
