JAL forecasts $100m loss from fiery runway collision
Japan Airlines expects a $100m loss after this week’s runway collision at Tokyo’s Haneda airport.
The Airbus A350 was destroyed by fire after colliding with a small coastguard plane on landing.
All 379 passengers and crew were able to safely evacuate although two pets perished.
The jetliner was described as a ‘total loss.’
However, the loss of the aircraft itself will be covered by insurance.
The airline will bear the costs of passenger compensation which is being discussed now.
More details about the incident have been revealed with the pilots at the time unaware of the collision.
They only became aware of a fire by cabin crew.
