Jamaica names director of tourism
Industry outsider Donovan White has been chosen to take the position of director of tourism of the Jamaica Tourist Board.
An announcement said he was selected after an extensive local and international search and will start on February 15.
White, a Jamaican national, was recently vice president of Cable & Wireless Business Jamaica.
Before that he held various roles in marketing, digital media and business development.
Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism for Jamaica, said: "Mr. White brings a solid business acumen and marketing savvy to the Jamaica Tourist Board, having developed, managed and executed vertically integrated marketing and branding strategies for a range of industry sectors including media, telecoms, advertising and technology.
“As a member of Jamaica’s tourism team, I am confident that Mr. White’s experience will assist the JTB to continue on its current path of delivering increased tourism results through innovative public and private sector partnerships."
John Lynch, chairman of the Jamaica Tourist Board added: "Donovan brings the right experience and the respect of the marketing and business sectors to this important position. In his capacity as director of tourism, he will lead the JTB as Jamaica’s tourist industry continues to grow in a highly globalised and technology driven world."
Donnie Dawson, currently serving as interim director, will continue in that role until White assumes office.
