Jerusalem hosts the Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia
The pilgrims will be sharing the streets where Jesus walked with international tourists on wheels next month, when Israel hosts its first-ever Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia cycling tour.
Set to take place on October 11, the event will take participants past some of Jerusalem’s oldest and holiest sites, as well as modern attractions and natural landscapes, including Mount Zion, David’s Citadel, Alrov Mamilla Mall, Mahane Yehuda Market and Sacher Park.
The tour will feature three courses of various lengths, including 12.4 miles, 52 miles and 79 miles, as well as a family-friendly route for beginner cyclists.
The Gran Fondo Giro d’Italia is a worldwide series of cycling events that showcases the passion of Italian cycling and the strength of spirit embodied in the Giro d’Italia, arguably the world’s toughest professional bicycle race.
The event will also include first-class road service and medical support for participants, rest zones and race celebrations.
Also new in Israel is a new gourmet culinary tour from BlackTomato, offering guided visits to leading foodie destinations throughout the country, including Jerusalem’s Mahane Yehuda Market, culinary haunts in Tel Aviv, and authentic dining experiences in the Galilee and in Bedouin villages in the Negev Desert.
