Jet2 apologises to passengers for inflight emergency
Jet2 has apologised to passengers whose flight last night from Cyprus to Newcastle was forced to make an emergency landing in Bulgaria due to a loss of cabin pressure.
Flight LS516 started a rapid descent an hour after taking off from Paphos on the holiday island.
Oxygen masks for passengers were deployed after the plane dropped thousands of feet.
It made an emergency landing at Sofia Airport in Bulgaria, where emergency crews were waiting on the tarmac.
Passengers had to spend a night in the airport before being flown home early this morning.
A Jet 2 spokesperson told the Daily Mail: "Flight LS516 from Paphos to Newcastle diverted to Sofia Airport yesterday afternoon as a precautionary measure due to a technical issue.
"The aircraft landed safely and passengers returned to Newcastle on a replacement aircraft early this morning.
"We would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience this may have caused."
