Jet2 ditches all card fees

Jet2 has ditched its fee for payments by AMEX, making it the first major travel company to offer fee-free flight and holiday bookings with any major card or through PayPal.

The move follows an announcement by Monarch last week that it was scrapping credit card booking fees from tomorrow, but it only accepts AMEX via PayPal.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays scrapped credit card fees in January, but until now they have continued to charge for payments by AMEX. The company said these fees would be dropped from today.

CEO Steve Heapy said: "We led the way in ditching credit card fees a year ago, when Jet2.com and Jet2holidays became the first airline and package holiday operator in the UK to drop all credit card charges on flights and holidays.

"After listening to our customers we have taken this commitment a step further, removing the fee for all AMEX transactions too, meaning that we offer a 100% fee-free service when booking with a card.

"Booking a holiday or a flight is a moment of real joy and excitement, so we urge other airlines and holiday companies to follow our lead and make it easier for them to enjoy that moment without having to pay a fee."
