Jet2 flight declares emergency after pilot ‘incapacitated’
A Jet2 flight declared an emergency just prior to landing after a pilot suffered a ‘medical issue.’
The plane was on its approach to Manchester Airport at the time.
The cockpit transmitted a squawk emergency alert only about 20 mins before its scheduled landing.
Air Traffic Control was alerted and emergency crews were put on standby.
The flight was able to land safely without issue.
The flight had departed from the Canary island of Lanzarote.
Neither Manchester Airport or the airline have disclosed the nature of the medical issue or the pilot’s current condition.
Manchester is a major Jet2 hub, flying dozens of holiday routes across Europe.
