British low-cost carrier Jet2 is stepping into the premium charter market with the introduction of its first-ever business class aircraft configuration, marking a notable shift for the leisure-focused airline.
The carrier announced to have configured a Boeing 737-800 to that purpose. Based in Liverpool, the all-business class aircraft will be available for charter flights between October 2026 and May 2027. The move responds to growing demand from clients seeking enhanced comfort, privacy, and a more exclusive onboard experience.
Trevor Caplis, Head of Charter and Airline Sales at Jet2, described the launch as a significant milestone for both the airline and its charter partners. He highlighted that the bespoke layout transforms the aircraft into a premium product tailored to high-end group travel, including sports teams, music tours, entertainment crews, and other specialist groups.
The aircraft, typically configured with 189 seats, has been dramatically reworked to accommodate just 76 passengers. This reduced capacity allows for a much more spacious cabin, with a minimum seat pitch of 43 inches (109 cm), delivering a level of comfort not usually associated with narrow-body aircraft in this segment.
In addition to increased legroom and privacy, customers can expect upgraded onboard catering, with menus customizable to suit specific group requirements—further reinforcing the premium positioning of the product.
Jet2 emphasizes that customers will still benefit from the airline’s core strengths, including operational reliability and competitive pricing, now combined with a more refined travel experience.
The launch comes as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays also push forward with their Summer 2027 program, which has gone on sale earlier than ever before. Covering all 13 UK departure airports, the program features flights and package holidays to 59 sun and leisure city destinations.
In total, more than 19 million seats are now available across 470 routes, including six new additions for Summer 2027, giving both travelers and travel agents an early opportunity to secure capacity for the peak season.
