Jet2holidays extends Greece season until November
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is extending its summer 21 Greece programme as fears continue to mount that the early months of the season may be wrecked by Covid.
The company has added 80 flights and packages in October and November to Zante, Crete, Rhodes and Kefalonia.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays Chief Executive Steve Heapy said: "There continues to be enormous pent-up demand from British holidaymakers, who want nothing more than to get away to the sunshine and enjoy their well-deserved holidays.
"As always, we listen to what customers want and react accordingly, so that we can provide them with the holiday choices that they want.
"Extending the summer season to Greece means we are doing exactly that; giving customers more opportunity to get away and enjoy a much-needed holiday."
The extension came as Jet2 reiterated it was remaining ‘cautious’ about the upcoming summer season.
The lack of consumer confidence worsened this week as Government ministers warned people not to book a summer break – a message which riled the industry.
Greece National Tourism Organisation UK Director Emy Anagnostopoulou welcomed Jet2’s move to add late summer flights and packages.
"We are extremely excited to hear that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will be extending their summer season to Greece in response to customer demand," she said.
"The unbelievable summer weather, even in October and November, and these additional flights will help their customers explore the breath-taking scenery and the delicious gastronomy of these four flagship islands."
The extended season will see 34 additional flights operate to Zante until the end of October from Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted.
Rhodes will be served by 20 extra flights until mid-November from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle and London Stansted, while the same number of additional flights will operate to Crete until 9 November.
New Kefalonia flights will operate until to mid-October.
