JetBlue announces partnership with Norwegian Air
Ahead of JetBlue’s planned foray into the competitive transatlantic market, it has inked a partnership with Norwegian Air.
It signed an agreement to establish an interline arrangement with the Scandinavian budget carrier.
It allows passengers of both airlines to book connections between the Americas and Europe on a single itinerary.
The tie-up is expected to launch next summer.
"We are very excited to partner with JetBlue as this will make international travel even smoother and more available for our customers. JetBlue is the largest airline at several of our key gateways in the United States, specifically New York JFK, Boston and Fort Lauderdale," Norwegian said.
Norwegian Air currently offers up to 20 nonstop transatlantic routes from those three airports.
The partnership also includes JetBlue’s routes between the US and the Caribbean and Latin America.
Overall it will add nearly 100 JetBlue operated routes from New York-JFK, Boston and Fort Lauderdale airports to Norwegian’s network.
It will bring much needed low fare competition to a market ‘dominated by joint ventures, legacy alliances and sky-high ticket prices’ said JetBlue CEO. Robin Hayes.
