‘Jetlag-busting’ aircraft arrives at Heathrow
The first ‘jetlag-busting’ Dreamliner aircraft has arrived at Heathrow as part of Boeing’s Dream Tour.
According to Boeing, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner can fly 52% further, burning 20% less fuel and saving 30% more on annual maintenance costs than existing aluminium machines.
The cleaner air means there is less chance of dehydration and with a smoother and quieter flight, jetlag will be reduced claims the manufacturer.
Thomson Airways, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic will be the first airlines to use the new planes on their routes with Thomson Airways saying it will fly the jet from May 2013.
It will initially operate from Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow airports to Sanford, Florida and Cancun, Mexico.
Thomson Airways will take delivery of eight Dreamliners over the next three years with a total of 13 across TUI Travel PLC and purchasing rights for a further 13.
Chris Browne, managing director of Thomson Airways said: "As the UK’s third largest airline, it is a major coup for Thomson Airways to be the first UK airline to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
