Jetstar eyes Gold Coast for direct international flights

Friday, 27 Jun, 2007 0

An ABC report this morning says that Jetstar is looking at introducing direct international flights to the Gold Coast.

Jetstar’s CEO Alan Joyce has revealed the company is considering basing part of its new long-haul fleet at the Gold Coast Airport.

Mr Joyce says its fleet of 787s will start arriving in the coming months adding, “In the aviation industry there are so many variables when doing your planning and so many things can change that we haven’t got any firm plans about how we’re going to use those 15”.

“But the Gold Coast is definitely on the radar screen for the potential for us to look at putting them here – as is Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

“And that’s a good state to be in at this stage.”
