John McEwan joins Holidaysplease
Former ABTA chairman John McEwan is joining online travel agent Holidaysplease as chairman.
The luxury specialist agency said McEwan’s experience will help the company fulfil its growth plans.
It says sales are up 30% year on year with the Indian Ocean and the Far East selling best.
Holidaysplease says it is still looking at acquisitions and is in discussions with a couple of agencies at the moment.
A group of ex co-op homeworkers are taking the overflow of enquiries at the moment.
McEwan, who has also held chief executive positions at Advantage Travel Centres as well as managing director roles at TUI and Thomas Cook, said: "The company has created a great team, technology platform and customer base.
"They have the potential to go far and I intend to help them do this. I am delighted that this is my first new board appointment following my retirement from ABTA and Advantage."
McEwan added that he expects to confirm one or more other appointments over the next month or two.
In February Charles Duncombe , Richard Dixon and Sonia Dixon completed a buy-out, from parent group Just Say Please Ltd, to concentrate on the travel side of the business, see previous story.
