Jumbo jets sold on eBay-style auction site
Two Boeing 747s have been sold on Chinese website Taobao, which is the country’s equivalent of eBay.
China’s SF Airlines outbid 25 other interested buyers to secure the aircraft for about $48 million.
The 747 freighters were previously owned by a cargo company, which went bust in 2013.
A court had tried unsuccessfully to sell the aircraft for years, during which time they were kept in storage in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
It eventually hit upon the idea of listing them on Taobao, an auction site owned by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.
A third aircraft remains unsold.
