Jumeirah Produces CSR Report
Jumierah has published their first Corporate Responsibility (CSR) report, focussing on social, economic and environmental practices within its Dubai-based operations.
Jumeirah Group is the first hospitality company in the UAE to produce such a report. The report is based on Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 Sustainability Reporting Framework, with the aim of promoting sustainability and encouraging stakeholder dialogue and engagement, whilst increasing transparency and accountability within the Group.
"We are delighted to be able to publish our first Corporate Responsibility Report" commented Gerald Lawless, Executive Chairman, Jumeirah Group "We remain completely committed to conducting business in a responsible manner that creates a positive, balanced and sustained impact economically, socially and environmentally.”
“Just as Sustainable Development is a process rather than an end goal, at Jumeirah we are committed to the ongoing development and implementation of CR practices within the Group’s operations, through which continual improvement of our CR performance can occur."
The report covers business practice and operations in the areas of corporate governance, health and safety, and the environment, as well as responsibilities towards the Group’s colleagues, customers, business partners, owners and the local community. It also addresses key issues in the hospitality industry such as Sustainable Tourism, Managing Change, HR Strategy, Local Community Engagement and Managing CR in the Supply Chain.
The Dubai-based luxury international hotel management group encompasses the world renowned Burj Al Arab, said to be the world’s most luxurious hotel and recognised as the symbol of Dubai, the multi-award winning Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa in Dubai, the Jumeirah Carlton Tower and Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel in London and the Jumeirah Essex House in New York.
The Group’s activities include The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, the region’s only fully accredited third-level academic institution delivering specialised degree programmes in hospitality management; and Jumeirah Retail, with its 15 stores and dedicated luxury online store
Jumeirah has extensive expansion plans to grow its portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts into key gateway or letterhead cities and aspirational resort destinations worldwide. Currently, the Group has several luxury five-star properties under development in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Maldives, Bali, Thailand, China, Argentina, Spain, England, Scotland, Germany and the US Virgin Islands.
In 2009, the Group is anticipating the grand opening of Jumeirah HanTang Xintiandi in Shanghai, Jumeirah’s first hotel in the Asia Pacific region.
