Kid flyer plays ‘home alone’ on solo flight to Rome
After a fight with his mother at a local shopping center, 11-year old Liam Corcoran from Manchester, UK decided to run away from home.
He got as far as Rome, Italy when he was discovered alone on a Jet2.com flight without a ticket or passport and sent back to Manchester.
Manchester Airport officials confirm that the boy was able to negotiate himself onto the flight without a ticket or passport.
They said the matter was "extremely serious" and that Corcoran’s ability to board the plane without documents was being investigated.
Some staff members of Manchester Airport and Jet2.com have been suspended until the investigation is concluded.
Corcoran was discovered by flight crew, kept on the same craft and returned home where his mother picked him up at the airport.
In the US, minors under 18 are not required to show passport or personal identification, according to the TSA. They are only required to show their boarding pass.
