Flag carrier Korean Air is adding two new long haul flights to its route network.
From next April it will serve Barcelona from Seoul three times a week beginning April 28, 2017.
The Monday, Wednesday and Thursday flights will be operated by Boeing 777 jets.
"There are many people in Catalonia that have an economic and cultural interest in Seoul and in Korea as a country. We also want to have the ability to attract Korean people or citizens from the Southeast Asia Peninsula that may come to Catalonia for productive activity, but also for tourism and cruises," said Catalan minister for business and knowledge, Jordi Baiget.
In addition it will fly to Iran capital Tehran but no launch date has yet been announced.
In a major shake-up of its global route network Korean Air also announced added frequencies on several US routes.
It will double capacity in phases on its San Francisco route to 14 flights per week by September 2017 and add two more weekly flights to Seattle in May 2017 to a total of seven a week.
However the airline said it will suspend the under-performing Seoul-Siem Reap route from February next year.
