Kylee Kay boss at Driveaway and Kemwel is gone!
With industry rumours and reports from inside Driveaway saying that in an “on the spot decision” by US based Auto Europe chief Imad Khaladi on Friday, Kylee Kay, Managing Director of Driveaway Holidays and Kemwel Australia appears to have been fired.
Ray Smith, Sales Manager for Driveaway told The Mole today that the rumours were not true with the departure amicable and something Kylee had been thinking of doign for some time.
Well informed reports from the inside at Driveaway say that it appears that Kylee had a row on the phone with Imad Khaladi in the USA, with Imad appearing to fire Kylee on the spot.
Ray Smith confirmed that there was a row between Imad and Kylee, but that was normal part of doing business and they were both strong personalities.
It is also reported said that Kay was told by Khaladi to leave the building immediately, reportedly escorted off the premises by Daniel Kearney the head of admin, who has now apparently taken over from Kay, with Ray Smith tellling The Mole that was normal company procedure with any senior manager escorted from the building the moment they resign, with emails and other access cut off immediately.
TravelMole subscribers will recall that Kay and Driveaway were less than happy with TravelMole revealing earlier this year the apparent use by Driveaway of wholesale net rates for direct sell to consumers through the Kemwel web site.
What subscribers may not know is that the articles in TravelMole were followed by what appeared to “threatening” laywers letters from Kay and Driveaway to TravelMole.
Reportedly, the US owners were not only less than happy with the outcome of the above issue and the manner in which it had been handled, but also with the company’s current performance, which is reportedly less than satisfactory.
It is not known if Kearney’s appointment in the MD role is permanent, but Ray Smith did confirm that talks with Kylee were underway for her to remain doing some work for Driveaway.
