Ladies just love to be pampered
HONG KONG – Female travellers expect more and are willing to pay for it, according to travel industry experts.
Married and single women scrutinise tour details, the coaches provided and hotel standards much more closely than men, said Hong Thai Travel Services senior marketing manager Balwin Yeung Pok-hung.
Speaking at a travel industry forum, and reported by the Hong Kong Standard, Yeung said women are much more demanding and adopt a more laid- back approach to vacationing with sleep-ins and relaxing activities, while men generally prefer to pack their days with a dozen different things.
According to the travel experts, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand and France are becoming increasingly popular for trendy women travellers, lured by the cuisine, spas and fashion.
Executive director of the Japan National Tourist Organisation, Taguchi Kazunari, said 60 percent of the 430,000 locals who went to Japan last year were women.
Assistant general manager of Wing On Travel Simon Ma said four-day spa-package tours to Thailand are favoured by women. They cost nearly double the more basic five-day HK$2,000 tour.
