Lake Constance Ticket for public transport includes now Liechtenstein

Monday, 06 Apr, 2026 0

Lake Constance Ticket on public transport is since December 2025 valid in the Principality of Liechtenstein. It provides at discounted rates unlimited travel by bus, train, and ferry across all four countries of the Lake Constance region, representing a perfect opportunity to explore the region during spring time.

The validity area of the Lake Constance Ticket for train, bus, and ferry continues to expand across borders as it now includes the Principality of Liechtenstein, providing an additional selling tool for tour operators and travel agencies.

This further strengthens public transport connections in the international Lake Constance region, optimizes cross-border routes, and ensures seamless onward connections. Available as a day pass or for three consecutive days, the Lake Constance Ticket enables cross-border excursions in Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland with just one ticket at an affordable price—especially attractive for families.

The Lake Constance Ticket is a joint product of “4 Länder Mobil,” a cooperation between transport associations, transport companies, and the participating countries, cantons, and districts in the four-country Lake Constance region.

It covers the most iconic destinations to visit in the area. The Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen to Oberstaufen in the Allgäu, from Bad Wurzach in Upper Swabia to Eastern Switzerland, including the Appenzell region—such as Schwägalp (the base station of the Säntis cable car) and the picturesque towns of Appenzell and Urnäsch. In Austria, the ticket is valid throughout the Bregenzerwald region up to Bludenz and Nüziders. It is now also valid in the Principality of Liechtenstein, where the capital Vaduz—nestled below the princely castle—offers fascinating museums and strolling opportunities. In the southern zone, the coverage area is also extended in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley to the border town of Buchs SG.

Ferries and regional trains network (Plan : S-Bahn Bodensee/Lake Constance)

Notably, the Lake Constance Ticket covers not only trains and buses but also two ferry routes across the lake.

Upgraded benefits with the Lake Constance Ticket

With the Lake Constance Ticket Train | Bus | Ferry, even more travelers can now take advantage of attractive conditions. Discounts have long been available with national railcards ( Switzerland’s Half Fare Card or GA Travelcard, Germany’s BahnCard, or Austria’s Vorteilscard and KlimaTicket Ö). Now, holders of region-wide annual passes in the Lake Constance area can also benefit. These include Germany’s Deutschlandticket (including job and youth tickets), Vorarlberg’s KlimaTicket VMOBIL maximo, and Switzerland’s OSTWIND annual passes covering all zones.

An additional established benefit: when presenting a regular Lake Constance Ticket, travelers receive up to 25% off seasonal cruise services operated by the “White Fleet” of the United Shipping Companies for Lake Constance and the Rhine (VSU)—ideal for spontaneous outings on the water.

With the Lake Constance Ticket, day-trippers can hop on and off wherever they like, making spontaneous detours or overnight stays easy with eco-friendly means of transport. The ticket is also available at a particularly attractive price for three consecutive days. For families and small groups, it is especially convenient: one or two adults and up to four children can travel together on a single ticket.

Three zones determined: West, East, and South

The validity area of the Lake Constance Ticket Train | Bus | Ferry is divided into three zones.

The West Zone includes, among other services, the ferry between Meersburg and Konstanz.

The East Zone includes ferry services between Friedrichshafen and Romanshorn and extends from the entire Ravensburg district through the Bregenzerwald and Bludenz in Vorarlberg—now even into the Principality of Liechtenstein. The East and West zones can be booked individually or combined.

The full ticket covering all three zones also includes the South Zone, which encompasses the entire Swiss Appenzell region and, newly extended, the St. Gallen Rhine Valley up to Buchs SG.
