Laos to introduce tourist tax
The newly formed Lao Tourism Marketing Board (LTMB) – a public-private enterprise – will finalise its marketing strategy in the next few weeks.
Laos will promote mainly in priority markets such as Europe (France, UK, Germany) and Asia Pacific (Japan, Korea, Australia) in order to increase tourist spending and length of stay.
Nature, adventure lovers and active tourists from these and other markets will be targeted, mainly through the Internet.
A new website with products and services will be developed and various Internet and social media campaigns are being worked on.
LTMB initiatives will be funded by tourist fees, details of which, together with an initial marketing budget, will be announced shortly.
