Lastminute.com and Amadeus ruled out of ebookers sale
Lastminute.com and Amadeus have dropped off the list of potential buyers of Ebookers.com.
Speculation concerning the possible sale of Ebookers arose last week after executives from the online agent confirmed they were talking to “several interested parties”.
According to The Sunday Times newspaper, senior executives from both Lastminute and Amadeus said they were not in the running at this stage. A spokeswoman for Lastminute told TravelMole that while the company could not comment on market speculation, it did state in August that it would be looking to integrate recent acquisitions before getting on the acquisition trail again.
Lastminute is a competitor to Ebookers and Amadeus recently took a controlling stake in online agent, Opodo.
Hot favourites to buy Ebookers are reported as Sabre, which owns the online agent Travelocity, Cendant, the US group that owns the Galileo GDS, and InterActive Corp Travel, which owns Expedia.
According to the paper, Ebookers chief executive Dinesh Dhamija stands to receive a pay out of up to £80million if a bid of £200million is accepted for the company.
