LATAM-American Airlines joint business agreement approved by Chile regulator
Chile’s anti-trust agency has granted final approval for American Airlines three-way joint business agreement with LATAM Airlines Group, and British Airways and Iberia parent IAG.
The country’s Free Competition Defence Court approved the JBA for both passenger and cargo business.
The airlines had already received approvals for the alliance from regulators in Uruguay, Colombia and Brazil.
The carriers are all members of the Oneworld Alliance.
The joint business agreement paves the way for the airlines to coordinate their respective flight schedules, revenue sharing and marketing.
AA already has a similar agreement in place with IAG.
"This decision sets an important precedent for commercial aviation in our region. It represents an opportunity to ensure growth of the industry, increase passenger traffic and generate more tourism and business travel," said Enrique Cueto, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group.
