Latest BA industrial action ends today
British Airways is preparing for another round of industrial action this week and again promises all passengers will reach their destinations.
The current four-day strike ends today, with a new four-day strike set to start on Wednesday.
BA has told striking cabin crew they will lose perks and bonuses for up to two years if their industrial action continues.
The airline said its pay rise offer is ‘fair and reasonable’ and crew should accept the terms or face consequences.
The Unite union has accused BA of punishing staff who choose to strike.
BA head of cabin crew Karen Slinger said the pay deal was ‘fair and reasonable’.
She said: "We desperately want to resolve this as soon as possible and hope that Unite will accept that offer on behalf of their colleagues."
However, a member of cabin crew has told Sky News the money is not enough.
Charly Bacon told reporters staff have to eat Pot Noodles from planes because they can’t afford to eat properly.
She said: "You expect to be able to afford things like phone bills, rent and petrol for your car as well as work and love the job that you do but unfortunately that is not the case.
"I’ve experienced friends having to sleep in their cars because they can’t afford the hotels around the area or they can’t afford the crew rooms."
Unite says new cabin crew recruits start at around £12,000, but the airline disputes this figure – saying that allowances and bonuses raise it to a minimum of £21,000.
