Lemon drizzle – the way to a traveller’s heart
Bmi has come up with a novel way to attract passengers – introducing freshly made cakes on board flights for customers buying flexible economy tickets.
Slices of hand-made victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and carrot cake are now being served on all UK, Ireland ahd Hanover flights departing between 1000 and noon, and 1350 – 1700.
Chief commercial officer Joerg Hennemann said bmi had listened to its customers and this is what they wanted. "Our freshly made cakes are a delicious and very welcome addition to our onboard services," he said.
The airline will also try to set itself apart from other scheduled carriers by offering complimentary hot food in economy class on European flights.
What's your view? Do you only care about flights leaving on time and a comfortable seat, or are you also tempted by the lemon drizzle cake?
