Let the airfare battle commence – Tiger Airways Australia starts sales by mauling fares!

Friday, 27 Jun, 2007 0

With Tiger Airways calling itself Australia’s only true low fare airline, this latest aviation market entrant has commenced sales of its first domestic route between Melbourne and Darwin with one-way fares starting from as low as $79.99 inclusive of all taxes and charges, for daily flights starting 1 December 2007.  Flights are subject to government approval.

Tiger Airways is also offering a Melbourne Singapore fight combo from $499 return, including taxes.

In addition, all fares are changeable on line for $10.

Tiger Airways CEO Tony Davis said, “Tiger Airways is pleased to offer our first domestic route, linking our home base of Melbourne and our international gateway of Darwin, with one-way prices of less than half of the advertised fare of our competitors.”

“Darwin has long suffered from a lack of affordable domestic air fares and this new service by Tiger Airways, with our true low, low fares, will be welcomed by both travelers and the tourism industry alike.”

“Australians can finally enjoy real low fare, reliable travel between the Northern Territory and Melbourne”, he said.

The strong response for its existing Darwin-Singapore service has also prompted Tiger Airways to increase frequency on this route to a daily service starting 1 December 2007.

This increase in frequency between Singapore and Darwin means that Tiger Airways will offer its popular Flight Combo fares between Melbourne and Singapore from $499 return, inclusive of taxes, offering the best value international travel.

Travellers in Singapore and Asia will be offered equally attractive fares to visit Melbourne and Victoria.

As an added benefit to travellers who may require even greater travel flexibility, all fares offered by Tiger Airways Australia can be changed on-line up to 4 hours prior to departure for just $10, plus any difference in the fare.

This is in addition to the add-on services currently available with Tiger Airways’ international services, such as luggage upsize options, advance seat selection, hotel and car-hire bookings

Tiger Airways will be adding further routes to its domestic network over the coming weeks.
