Liberal Democrats announce return to Brighton
VisitBrighton has secured the return of the Liberal Democrats Conference in September 2012, which is expected to see 8,000 delegates convene in the city, injecting an estimated £10m into the local economy.
The Liberal Democrats last staged a conference in Brighton in 2007.
VisitBrighton said the win underlined the city’s popularity as a stage for political conferences having hosted both the Labour Party and Green Party Annual Conferences and the Conservative Spring Forum in the last 18 months.
Convention Bureau sales manager Darren Johnson added: “To once again be selected to host a high profile conference such as this further highlights our city’s credentials as a destination which can deliver exceptional city-wide business events."
The convention will be held at the Brighton Centre, which has recently undergone a £1m facelift.
