Loganair offers APD savings with three new airline partnerships
Scottish airline Loganair has signed interline agreements with three major airlines to offer its passengers connecting flights at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Norwich.
Passengers connecting on to Air France, KLM and Thomas Cook Airlines will be given a single ticket for their entire journey and their bags will be automatically transferred between flights.
In addition to these deals, Loganair said it was close to signing agreements with Dubai-based Emirates and another three international airlines, which it will announce soon.
The moves are the latest in Loganair’s ‘Better Connected’ programme, which aims to provide a wide range of connecting flights at its key airports.
In addition to offering the convenience of through check-in and protected connections in the event of flight delays, single ticket bookings also offer reductions in air passenger duty.
Loganair said the saving was as much as £78 per person on long-haul journeys from the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
Its partnerships with KLM and Air France will allow passengers from the Highlands and Islands to travel worldwide via Amsterdam and Paris.
The deal with Thomas Cook Airlines will allow holiday connections from the Highlands and Islands via Glasgow to destinations including the US, and the eastern and the western Mediterranean on a single ticket.
The same will apply to Emirates services to Dubai and onwards to the Far East and Australia.
The Thomas Cook partnership also provides long-haul connections from Inverness and Norwich via Manchester to destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Orlando and Las Vegas on a single ticket.
It complements codeshare arrangements Loganair already has in place with British Airways and its partner airlines at Manchester, offering connectivity to transatlantic routes, including Chicago and Philadelphia, with onward connections throughout the US with BA’s partner airlines.
Loganair’s commercial director Kay Ryan said: "These are exciting deals with some of the biggest names in international air travel, and they mean a better, joined-up service for our customers – as well as making it easier for overseas tourists to come and visit some of the beautiful places we fly to in the Highlands and Islands. Our brand strapline boasts that we’re Better Connected, and deals like these make that statement increasingly true."
