Loganair Scotland flights impacted by upcoming ATC strike action

Wednesday, 16 Jul, 2021 0

Loganair confirmed that it will be unable to operate flights at airports operated by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited on 29 July after air traffic controllers announced a one-day strike.

The industrial action affects six airports: Inverness, Sumburgh, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Benbecula and Dundee.

Loganair says it  will cancel all flights on Thursday 29 July to and from the five airports that  are impacted.

Customers booked to travel on this date will have the option to transfer their booking without any change fee or difference in fare to another Loganair flight – or on an alternative route if they wish.

They may also request a full refund if they no longer wish to travel.

Customers on affected flights will receive an email from Loganair setting out the options.

To assist customers, there will be extra services on the evening of Wednesday 28 July departing Kirkwall into Aberdeen at from Aberdeen to Kirkwall early  on Friday 30 July.

Loganair plans to operate larger aircraft on several other services on Wednesday 28 July and Friday 30 July to provide additional seats to help customers re-arrange their travel.

Flights to and from Islay, Barra, Tiree and Campbeltown will be unaffected as the Flight Information Service officers who oversee arrivals and departures at these airports are not part of the dispute.

"We are hugely disappointed by this strike action and can only ask for our customers’ understanding that we are unable to avoid the inconvenience that these flight cancellations will inevitably cause," said Jonathan Hinkles, CEO, Loganair

Loganair is checking whether it may be possible to provide inter-isles air services within the Orkney Islands on 29 July and will provide a further update in due course.
