Lufthansa pilots set to strike again
Lufthansa pilots plan to go on strike again, for two days, as its pay dispute with the airliner rumbles on.
The Vereinigung Cockpit union said it plans a two-day walkout starting from early Wednesday.
Cargo pilots plan to strike for an extra day, the union says.
“In order to leave no stone unturned even in this situation, we nevertheless offered another round of talks for Tuesday,” union spokesman Matthias Baier.
“However, it must be clear that the announced strike can only be averted by a serious offer.”
Pilots are seeking wage increases to help keep parity with soaring inflation.
The union wants a 5.5% raise this year and 8.2% in 2023.
Employees staged a walkout Friday, leading to hundreds of flight cancellations across Europe and the UK.
The latest industrial action could result in the cancellation of about 160 flights at hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.
If the strike goes ahead more than 260,000 passengers could be impacted.
According to Reuters Lufthansa will present an improved offer to the union today.
