Five and six-star cruises are more affordable in 2010 due to unprecedented offers, according to specialist travel agency White Star Cruises.
The agency claims that booking levels are 30% ahead of this time last year with enquiries for Silversea, Oceania Cruises, Cunard, Oberoi Nile cruises and river cruises.
Savings of up to £300 are on offer from Cunard to boost sales over the key Christmas and new year period while Silversea has released 2011 itineraries due to demand for its ‘Silver Savings’ programme which sees fares rise closer to date of departure.
General manager Scott Anderson said: “The new year period and January is a key sales time for the travel industry and is traditionally when some of the best offers come out.
“This year it’s not just the mass market cruise lines who are launching savings and special offers, luxury cruise lines at the highest end of the industry are also coming out fighting. This is great news for the consumer.”
Sample offers:
*A seven-night fly/cruise to the Caribbean on all inclusive Silver Whisper starts at £1,768 per person including free flights and transfers – departing March and April 2011.
*Sale prices for Queen Mary 2’s 2010 transatlantic crossings start at £899 per person, including a flight in the opposite direction. A 12-night Mediterranean cruise on Queen Mary 2 departing September 19 next year starts at £1,499 per person.
*Queen Victoria sailings lead-in at £569 for a four-night mini cruise. The ship’s first 10-night round British Isles voyage has a revised starting price of £1,269. Seven-night Mediterranean fly-cruises lead-in from £899 per person.
