Luxury operator tipped to reveal board shake up this week
Luxury operator Western & Oriental is expected to announce details of a board shake up along with its financial results early this week.
The company’s spokesman would only say the announcement will be made "shortly", but it is understood this will take place within the next few days.
The spokesman confirmed that the departure on Thursday of two non-executive directors, Alan Barber and Pamela Harper, was as a result of a strategic review of the group’s travel division, announced in October.
At the time the company, which owns several upmarket brands including W&O Travel and Regent Holidays, said the review had been prompted by trading conditions during the first six months coupled with recent share price performance.
The company admitted its results will fail to meet expectations due to the effects of the ash cloud, which cost it an estimated £1.8m, and tough trading conditions, though it said it expected its performance to improve in the next financial year.
