Malaysia launches first TV travel channel for ASEAN
Malaysia has announced the launch of GOASEAN, the first TV travel channel focused entirely on Southeast Asia.
Tourism officials unveiled it at the ITB Berlin travel trade event which aims to showcase the regions diversity of natural attractions and culture both for travelers and tourism investors.
“The countries of ASEAN offer a rich and diverse cultural heritage that we are proud to share. With GOASEAN, we will provide the opportunity to all member states to do just that. With our increasing regional economic integration, it is clear that ASEAN is a vibrant and growing area of opportunity,” Datuk Dr. Ong Hong Peng, secretary general at Malaysia’s ministry of tourism.
Dr. Ong said GOASEAN is the perfect platform for industry players in the ASEAN region to showcase their tourism product.
Content on GOASEAN will focus on shopping, sports and music tourism, festivals, culinary tourism, wellness and nature tourism.
Via the GOASEAN website and online polls, viewers will be able to highlight their preferences.
The channel will broadcast every day 24/7 across TV, mobile and digital platforms.
