Malindo Air crew member arrested for drug smuggling
Australian Federal Police sayup to two Malindo Air crew members were busted attempting to smuggle a million dollar drug haul into Australia.
The crew members were arrested and are believed to be part of a smuggling syndicate.
Six other people were also arrested.
According to investigators, the flight attendants from Malindo Air had made at least 20 trips smuggling heroin and methamphetamine.
"Malindo Air stands ready to co-operate with all the relevant authorities be it in Australia or in Malaysia in this regard," a statement from an airline said.
However it would only confirm one crew member is under investigation at the moment, despite reports two were detained.
The flight attendant was ‘suspended with immediate effect pending termination,’ the carrier said.
Police said it was a ‘highly organized’ syndicate based out of Vietnam.
