Man who locked himself in BA cockpit receives small fine
A man who caused a major security alert after evading Heathrow Airport security and locking himself inside a British Airways cockpit has been fined £220.
Luis Costa ran through a barrier before locking himself inside cockpit of an empty BA plane on March 5.
Costa, 38, from west London, appeared in front of Uxbridge magistrates on Saturday charged with an unrelated arson charge but his airport security breach was dealt with at the same time.
He had initially denied all charges, and refused to come out of his cell on his first court date, but this week changed his mind, admitting to all the offences.
He was fined £220 for breaking into the Heathrow terminal and barricading himself in an empty plane.
Costa also pleaded guilty to the arson charge, for a fire at an address in Chiswick in March.
He was released on bail and will return for sentencing on the arson offence in April.
