Mandalay Bay adding more event space
Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino will expand its Convention Center by an additional 350,000 square feet of meeting space.
The project will take the resort’s exhibition space to over two million square feet, making it the fifth largest venue of its kind in North America.
Construction will begin at the end of the year and is expected to be fully completed by January 2016.
Total cost of the project will be around $66 million and includes a 70,000 square feet ballroom that can be divided into five individual spaces, offering more break-out areas.
Internet bandwidth will also be upgraded to accommodate the larger attendee capacity.
Manadalay Bay COO Chuck Bowling said the enhancements will attract more business to Las Vegas and also enable current clients to hold larger events.
The new construction will conform to LEED Gold building standards as part of parent company MGM Resorts International’s commitment to sustainable operations and event facilities.
