Marriott Vacation Clubs reach out to small meetings market

Marriott Vacation Clubs is reaching out the travel agent and meeting planner markets with the message that its properties make a good fit for small groups.

While Marriott’s bigger properties have always been popular with groups, the 54 Vacation Clubs around the country have seen growing interest from board retreats, church groups, incentive planners and even large family reunions, spokesman Ed Kinney told TravelMole.

Resort amenities and spacious suites in a more intimate venue than a large hotel, plus the fact that almost half the Vacation Clubs have access to the facilities of full-service Marriott hotels or resorts located right next door, make for a popular combination.

The Vacation Clubs in Orlando and Palm Desert are a particularly good fit, Kinney says, with lots of inventory; Marriott has seven Vacation Clubs in Orlando alone.

Those two cities often host small groups meeting before or after conventions and conferences, while Aruba attracts the more leisure-oriented incentive and family groups.

"As technology has enabled people to get more and more work done remotely, we recognize the demand and the growing opportunity the small-group market offers," Kinney said.

Marriott Vacation Clubs has its own dedicated group-business team, for groups of 10 or more villas, that will help travel agents, meeting planners, church groups or families find the location that best fits their needs; email them at [email protected] or call 1-800-6674 ext. 6520.
