Marriott’s Moxy brand checking in to Caribbean and Latin America
Marriott International’s millennial focused brand Moxy is set to make its mark in the Caribbean and Latin America region.
The brand will debut in 2020 with four properties but has only unveiled details of one so far.
It recently signed the 165-room Moxy in Medellin, Colombia and will offer a sneak peek with a pop up experience in Medellin at the SAHIC South America 2018 hospitality and tourism investment conference.
"This brand is a great fit for our region – both from an economic model and consumer appeal perspective," said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer, Marriott International Caribbean and Latin America.
The Moxy Hotels brand debuted in Europe in 2014 and is categorized by Marriott by attitude rather than price point – a playful brand with a millennial mindset.
Typical facilities include vibrant bars, ‘Instagram-worthy social zones,’ and 24/7 self-service grab and go outlets.
The brand has grown to 30 hotels currently in operation and more than 90 in its development pipeline, and is on target to double its portfolio by 2020.
