Matt Appleby returns to Gold Medal
Travel 2 and Gold Medal has appointed Matt Appleby to the newly-created role of director of product and commercial across both brands.
Appleby previously worked for Thomas Cook where he has held the position of head of long haul product for the last two years.
Before that he spent three years in the role of head of product for Thomas Cook Scheduled Businesses, which included the Gold Medal and Netflights brands.
He will take up the new role in November and joins Gordon McCreadie, director of sales and marketing B2B, and Lisa Smith, director of operations B2B, to complete the line-up of direct reports to Andy Freeth, managing director of Travel 2 and Gold Medal.
"Matt joins the team at a very exciting time," said Freeth.
" I look forward to working alongside him and am confident that with his exceptional experience working with high profile brands that he’ll be key to us in delivering dnata’s ambitious growth plans. We are all excited about him joining the team."
Meanwhile, Colin Birchenough, current general manager, ground product at Gold Medal Travel Group, is moving internally to become operations director, central accommodation services, based in Dubai.
