The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) has unveiled its new online portal, aiming to bring all licensed travel operators together for easier trip planning.
It was launched by Tourism Malaysia director general Datuk Seri Mirza Mohammad Taiyab and Matta president Datuk Hamzah Rahmat this week and its goal is to give travellers more peace of mind when booking packages.
The site will only feature licensed agents, said Tourism Malaysia licensing division under secretary Nor Yahati Awang.
"There are risks buying from unlicensed vendors because it ruins the country’s reputation if the traveller doesn’t have a positive experience," sahe said.
At present there are 340 different packages offered by Matta agency members and this is expected to more than double by the end of the year.
Customers can search for travel packages by destination, type of holiday or specific operator and customise a trip with accommodation, meals, flights and other add-ons.
Along with main Malaysian destinations, it also features global tourism hotspots from outbound travel specialists.
