Meeting planners prefer Letterman over Leno

Event planners chose TV talk show hosts David letterman or Jimmy Kimmel over Jay Leno, which is an important distinction, according to the Knowland Group.

“In our experience, meeting planners have strong opinions regarding the headliners of their events,” said Knowland Group CEO Michael K. McKean. “The right speaker can mean hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars in registration fees for some conferences.”

The Knowland Group, the self-described world’s largest data firm in the global meetings and convention market, surveyed meeting planners across the nation for their opinion on late night talk show hosts.

Almost two-thirds of those in the survey preferred Letterman or Kimmel.

Planners were also asked if they think another talk show host, Conan O’Brien was treated unfairly by NBC.

“No way!” says one event planner who works for a nonprofit. “He got a $45 million buyout and will probably be picked up by another network.”
