Melbourne Airport operator names new CEO
Melbourne Airport operator has announced the appointment of a former Qantas executive as its new CEO.
Lyell Strambi will take over as the managing director and CEO of Australia Pacific Airports Corporation (APAC), which operates Melbourne and Lanceston airports.
Strambi was previously CEO at Qantas Domestic, and has also served as COO of Virgin Atlantic Airways.
He began his aviation career at Ansett Airlines in finance and strategic planning.
"We are delighted to have a person of Lyell Strambi’s calibre join us as our managing director and CEO. Lyell brings relevant experience internationally and within the Australian aviation sector," said APAC Chairman David Crawford.
"The Board was impressed with Lyell’s corporate and team leadership credentials and strong customer focus."
He starts at APAC on September 21.
"My goal is to build on the excellent foundations built by the APAC team under previous leadership as we continue our journey to make our airports the best in the region," Strambi said.
