Melbourne’s The Lyall Hotel and Spa was the recipient of four significant awards and accolades in 2006.

Australasia’s Leading Boutique Hotel

The Lyall Hotel and Spa was voted “The Best” by travel professionals worldwide at the 13th Annual World Travel Awards.

2006 HM Awards for Hotel & Accommodation Excellence.

The Lyall was chosen as “The Best Boutique Hotel in Australia” by a key judging panel involving 50 industry professionals and travel media who, in a record year of entries, had over 600 nominated properties to select from in the various categories across Australia New Zealand and the South Pacific.

The World’s Ultimate City Escapes
In a special annual issue of Luxury Hotels, Robb Report editors have selected the world’s most exclusive luxury hotels.

“The publication of Robb Report Luxury Hotels culminates a yearlong effort by our editorial staff members, who identified the best properties in each of nearly 100 cities worldwide,” explains Editor Bruce Wallin.

Spanning 42 countries on six continents, the collection of exclusive properties showcased in Robb Report Luxury Hotels ranges from historic grand dames in Europe to contemporary boutique hotels in Asia. But each hotel, according to Mr Wallin, shares at least one common trait, the ability to convey the absolute best of its respective city. “In selecting only one property for a given city, the editorial staff focused on determining “which property represented the ultimate address for the luxury traveler,” according to Mr Wallin.

“In addition to exceptional locations, these hotels have staff that are not only highly focused on guest service, but are also thoroughly knowledgeable about everything that makes their city great,” Mr, Wallin says. “First-rate accommodation , amenities and facilities are a given.’

Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Spa Awards
The Lyall Spa has been voted into “the top 10” Hotel Spas in the Australasia & South Pacific region. Readers were asked to nominate their favourite spas in 10 categories.

“We are absolutely thrilled to receive such distinguished recognition from our clients and industry colleagues” said Peter Thomas, Owner/ Hotelier. We built and opened The Lyall in 2002 with a vision of excellence and in just five years have been recognized together with some of the most famous and prestigious hotels in the world”.

“Consistency is my mantra” explains Mr Thomas, “From being greeted by a familiar smile to delivering the same, consistent experience each time. Our staff, many of whom have been here from the start, understand this and are further inspired by these accolades.”
