Melia Hotels expanding Asia Pacific pipeline
Travelmole.tv recently sat down with Ruben Casas, Melia Hotels’ director of sales & marketing in Asia Pacific, to discuss the group’s latest expansion phase in the region.
Casas explained recent efforts has been concentrated in Brazil ahead of the Rio Olympics, and now the focus has turned to Asia Pacific.
"We currently have eight properties open in the region with half in Indonesia, which includes two in Bali, one in Yogyakarta and a beautiful hotel recently renovated in Jakarta. Additionally there are properties in Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi and China," Casas said
"We are looking at an aggressive time limit for expansion in Asia Pacific and the company has put in a lot of resources with many hotels in the pipeline."
New deals include a property in Mongolia, a new Jakarta hotel, and Melia will open four hotels in China in the next two years with a further three hotels planned in Indonesia," he added.
The Asian expansion, Casas said, will be across all Melia brands including Gran Melia.
