Meliá Hotels International to debut its first hotel in the Dolomites in 2026

Monday, 29 Dec, 2025 0

Meliá Hotels International, the Spanish hotel company, has announced the signing of its first project in the Italian Dolomites, one of Europe’s most iconic destinations, in partnership with Gruppo Stay, a consolidated hotel management company based in Cortina d’Ampezzo.

Scheduled to open in May 2026 under the Affiliated by Meliá brand, this new addition will mark the company’s 16th hotel in Italy, reinforcing its presence in one of its most strategic markets.

The property will be located in the heart of Auronzo di Cadore, just a five-minute walk from the charming Piazza Santa Giustina. This picturesque town is the gateway to the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, three majestic peaks that have made the Dolomites a paradise for hikers and climbers worldwide. The area is also home to the stunning Lake Misurina, known as the “Pearl of the Dolomites,” a serene spot perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities.

The four-star hotel will feature 53 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a stylish bar, and a full-service spa, ensuring guests enjoy an exceptional stay year-round. Nestled in the heart of Cadore Dolomiti, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the property will serve as the ideal base to explore a region that blends tradition, culture, and breathtaking alpine scenery—just two hours by car from Venice.

The Dolomites offer a privileged setting for both winter and summer escapes. In winter, ski enthusiasts can experience Dolomiti Superski, one of the largest and most spectacular ski areas in the world, boasting 450 lifts and 1,200 kilometers of slopes across twelve resorts—all accessible with a single ski pass. The region will also take center stage in 2026 as a host of the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

During summer, the Dolomites transform into a hiker’s paradise, with legendary trails such as Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Seceda Ridge, Lake Braies, and the multi-day Alta Via routes, attracting travelers seeking adventure and nature.

Gabriel Escarrer, Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, commented: “The Dolomites are among the most spectacular destinations in Europe and perfectly embody the unique experiences we strive to offer our guests. With this opening, we strengthen our presence in Italy and continue to invest in locations that combine natural beauty, culture, and sustainability; values that are at the core of Meliá’s DNA.”

“Gruppo Stay is a dynamic and rapidly scaling platform within the Italian hospitality sector,” said Andrea Franceschi, Founder of Gruppo Stay. “This partnership with Meliá Hotels International represents a strategic value-enhancing milestone for our portfolio, strengthening our growth trajectory and expanding our long-term investment potential.”
